Clare first worked with the school in 1998 with the Headteacher, Kate Spiller, who decided to use the Investor in People framework as a real driver for change. From the outset, our vision of the investors in people award was not simply about clear communication and well-organised professional development, but something far deeper: namely the creation of a culture and ethos in which individuals and feed valued, empowered and committed to our collective mission provide an outstanding education for all our pupils.

One thing that has always struck us about Clare is her incredible ability to listen and encourage people across the organisation to talk candidly and reflect on their roles. From this information she would be able to provide profound insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the school and point the way forward for future improvements. Since I took over as Headteacher in 2006, I have very much appreciated her counsel and wisdom, as well as her candour.

Clare commands the respect of all with whom she works her and exceptional interpersonal skills have been in enormous asset to us. As a school has improved over the years, one thing that has been particularly impressive about Clare is the way in which she has adapted her offer to reflect our changing requirements. She has really relished the new challenges this has represented and her input has undoubtedly contributed to our ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating, our re-accreditation with Investors in People Gold status, and out recent success in opening a new Sixth Form for the town of Rayleigh in September 2014 .
